Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Ciao! This policy explains what personal information Two Aussies in Tuscany collects, why we collect it, how we look after it and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it short and in plain English.
In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” means Two Aussies in Tuscany, run by Andrew and Julie Porteous, based in South Australia, Australia. “You” means anyone who visits twoaussiesintuscany.com, joins our email list or buys one of our guides.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
When you join our email list: your email address and, if you choose to give it, your first name.
When you buy a guide: your name, email address and order details. Payments are handled by Payhip and its payment providers (Stripe or PayPal). We never see or store your full card details.
When you contact us: whatever you include in your email to us, such as your name, email address and your travel plans or questions.
Information collected automatically
Website analytics: when you visit our site, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the device and browser you use, your approximate location (city or country) and how you found us. This doesn’t tell us who you are.
Email activity: our email service records whether you open our emails and which links you click, so we can see what’s useful and stop sending things that aren’t.
Cookies: small files stored by your browser. See section 6.
We don’t collect sensitive information (such as health, religious or political information), and we ask that you don’t send it to us.
2. Why we use it
To send you the Ultimate Italy Travel Checklist and our emails with travel tips, news and offers, but only if you’ve signed up and confirmed.
To deliver the guides you buy, including the link and password to your guide page, and any updates to it.
To reply to your emails and questions.
To understand how people use our website and emails, so we can improve them.
To meet our legal and tax obligations, such as keeping sales records.
We will never sell your personal information or rent our email list to anyone.
For visitors in the EU and UK: our legal bases are your consent (for our email list and non-essential cookies), performing our contract with you (when you buy a guide), our legitimate interests (running and improving our website and replying to you) and complying with the law (keeping sales records).
3. Who we share it with
We only share your information with the trusted services that help us run Two Aussies in Tuscany, and only what they need to do their job:
| Service | What it does for us | Where your data may be stored |
|---|---|---|
| Bluehost (WordPress) | Hosts our website | United States |
| Klaviyo | Runs our email list, sign-up forms and emails | United States |
| Google Analytics | Website statistics | United States and other countries |
| Payhip, Stripe and PayPal | Sell and deliver our guides and process payments | United Kingdom, United States and other countries |
| Google Maps | Hosts the maps inside our guides | United States and other countries |
These providers may store information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We choose reputable services that protect personal information and, for European visitors, use recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
Affiliate links: some links on our site go to booking or travel partners (for example, through Travelpayouts). If you click one and make a booking, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The partner may use cookies to record that you came from our site. We don’t receive your personal details from them, and we only recommend places we’ve tried and loved.
4. Our emails
You only join our list if you sign up and confirm your email address.
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you’re off the list straight away. You can also just email us.
If you buy a guide, we’ll send you emails about your purchase (such as your access details and updates). These aren’t marketing emails, so they still arrive even if you’ve unsubscribed from our list.
5. How long we keep it
Email list: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep a record of your email address only so we don’t accidentally email you again.
Purchases: for as long as we need to provide your guide and its updates, and at least as long as Australian tax law requires us to keep records (generally five years).
Emails you send us: for as long as we need them to help you, then we delete them.
Analytics: Google Analytics keeps data for the period set in our account, which is no longer than 14 months.
6. Cookies
Cookies help our website work and show us how it’s used. We use:
Essential cookies: needed for the site to work, for example to remember that you’ve unlocked a guide page.
Analytics cookies: from Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages are popular.
Email sign-up cookies: from Klaviyo, so our sign-up form doesn’t keep popping up once you’ve closed it or joined.
Affiliate cookies: set by partners when you click an affiliate link (see section 3).
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some features may not. To opt out of Google Analytics on every site, you can use Google’s free opt-out browser add-on.
7. Keeping it safe
We use reputable, secure services, keep our accounts protected with strong passwords and two-step sign-in where available, and only collect what we actually need. No system is completely secure, but if something did go wrong that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would let you know and do what the law requires.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to:
tell you what personal information we hold about you
correct anything that’s wrong or out of date
delete your information (unless we have to keep it, for example sales records for tax)
stop sending you marketing emails
If you’re in the EU or UK, you also have the right to restrict or object to how we use your information, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. If you’re in California or another US state with privacy laws, you have similar rights, and we don’t sell or share your personal information for advertising.
Just email us at ciao@twoaussiesintuscany.com. We’ll reply within 30 days, and there’s no charge.
9. Children
Our website, emails and guides are for adults planning travel. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has signed up, let us know and we’ll remove them.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern about your privacy, please email us first at ciao@twoaussiesintuscany.com and we’ll do our best to put it right. If you’re not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). If you’re in the EU or UK, you can also contact your local data protection authority.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. We’ll post the new version here with an updated date at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll let our email subscribers know.
